The online resale platform ThredUp is introducing a new way for shoppers to thrift by unveiling three new AI-powered features to revolutionize the customer experience while shopping. The innovative tools will amplify personalization and streamline the shopping experience for ThredUp’s users. Among the new features is a search tool built on advanced machine learning (ML) algorithms that process natural language, delivering highly personalized and relevant search results.

The suite of AI tools includes improved search, image search, and style chat. Together, they will facilitate shopper curation and allow them to personalize their outfits with images and text descriptions. Customers can upload a picture, take a photo of a piece of clothing, or share a post from Instagram to find or discover similar styles in ThredUp’s inventory. ThredUp’s style chatbot can help users create outfits by giving a prompt, such as “Dress for the holidays.” The chatbot will render a result, and the user can refine the result’s style or color to provide a more personalized rendering.
