To mark its 50th anniversary, Miller Lite is throwing a major celebration by giving away 50,000 beers across the U.S. on International Beer Day (August 1). The brand is inviting fans to join in a one-day coast-to-coast celebration toast, dubbed “50K Beers for 50 Years,” as part of a yearlong tribute to its legacy as the Original Light Beer.
The festivities will peak at the Miller Lite Brewery in Milwaukee, where a unique “Beer Drop” will take place. A massive six-pack installation will feature giant cans representing each U.S. time zone. Starting at 4:50 PM local time (a nod to 50 years), each can will drop in sync with nationwide toasts.
Miller VP of Marketing Ann Legan said, “The 50th anniversary is just more than a milestone for Miller Lite, it’s a celebration of our fans and the five decades we’ve spent together enjoying Miller Time. As a thank you to our Miller Lite family, this August 1, on International Beer Day, we’re giving away 50,000 beers and inviting fans to raise a glass to 50 years of celebrations – and 50+ more years of memories.”
Fans aged 21 and older can join the celebration in four ways - in person at the Milwaukee brewery, at participating bars, livestream from home, or by redeeming a free beer on the Miller Lite website.
Country music star and Miller Lite fan Luke Combs is helping promote the celebration. He said, “Miller Lite is my go-to beer, everyone knows that. So I’m excited to kick off their celebration of 50 years by announcing that Miller Lite is giving away 50,000 beers coast-to-coast for International Beer Day on August 1—now that's how you celebrate.”
The toast isn’t just a party. It’s a thank you to the loyal fans who’ve made Miller Time a shared tradition for half a century. It’s the latest event in a year of special promotions, which also includes limited-edition gold cans and a partnership with comedian Marcello Hernandez.
