Cash App Partners with WNBA Star Angel Reese
Angel Reese, WNBA All-Star and cultural icon, and Cash App recently unveiled a newly renovated community basketball court in Chicago’s Oakwood Beach. This installation was achieved through a trio partnership involving Cash App, Reese’s Angel C. Reese Foundation, and Project Backboard – a nonprofit known for revitalizing public courts to foster community development.
Both Reese and Cash App emphasized the symbolic and practical significance of the court: Reese highlighted its role as “more than just a place to hoop,” expressing hope that it will inspire and empower young girls both athletically and personally. Cash App’s CMO, Catherine Ferdon, reaffirmed the company’s ongoing commitments to women’s sports, economic equity, and culturally resonant community engagement – building on their recent ventures, including sponsorships of the Atlanta Dream and a Formula 1 Academy team.
This initiative arrives amid a broader surge in women’s sports, with Cash App actively investing in financial support and visibility for female athletes. Reese’s leadership off the court reinforces the alignment between her mission and Cash App’s vision of empowering the next generation of leaders on and off the court.
