JetBlue recently celebrated its 25th year in operation, commemorating a milestone that began with its inaugural flight on February 11, 2000, from New York’s JFK Airport to Fort Lauderdale. The airline’s first flight now operates as JetBlue flight #1 and is a tribute to JetBlue’s commitment to innovation, top-tier service, and its mission to restore humanity to the skies.

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty said, “As we celebrate 25 groundbreaking years of JetBlue, I’m filled with gratitude and pride for the remarkable journey we’ve taken together. Our mission of bringing humanity back to air travel has set us apart, and our amazing crewmembers are redefining what it means to truly care for our customers and each other.”

JetBlue marked the anniversary event with a variety of festivities, giveaways, and a special birthday sale, alongside the unveiling of a new aircraft livery that recognizes and celebrates JetBlue’s over 23,000 crewmembers, the true heart of the airline’s success. The special BlueUnity livery on an Airbus A321 aircraft was designed by JetBlue crewmember Ray Mathew, and it celebrates the teamwork that keeps JetBlue flying. The design includes a bold side-body tagline that reads, “Honoring the fly-est crew in the biz,” serving as a visual tribute to the airline’s vibrant and dedicated workforce.

Geraghty said, “Building a unique culture focused on caring for the crewmembers was always core to the JetBlue model, and this new livery speaks to exactly that. It’s truly awe-inspiring to think about the countless individuals, many working behind the scenes, who make our airline so special. Painting it on the side of a plane lets everyone in on the secret of JetBlue’s success—our crewmembers.”

From serving just 10 destinations at its inception, JetBlue has grown into a globally recognized airline, now offering flights to more than 100 locations in 31 countries across three continents. The airline has consistently led the industry with innovative features, such as the introduction of all-leather seating, in-flight live entertainment, unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, and premium snacks.

In 2014, JetBlue revolutionized the premium travel sector with the introduction of Mint, its upscale cabin service. The success of Mint has since expanded into the U.S., the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe.
JetBlue’s JetForward strategy was introduced last year to enhance operational performance, introduce new products, and strengthen its East Coast leisure network. As part of this vision, JetBlue is rolling out several exciting customer experience enhancements, including new European seasonal routes beginning in May 2025, domestic lounges, domestic first-class options to launch in 2026, and new amenities with its EvenMore legroom option.
