Hertz Car Sales recently announced a major nationwide expansion of its Hertz Rent2Buy® program, now available in over 100 cities. In line with growing consumer trends favoring a “try before you buy” approach, the company is reshaping the traditional test-drive model by offering an extended trial period.
Through Rent2Buy, customers can explore a wide variety of well-maintained, competitively priced used vehicles, including 2025 models, for an extended and flexible test experience.
The program allows prospective buyers to rent a vehicle for up to three days at a low daily rate, giving them ample time to evaluate how it fits into their lifestyle before deciding to purchase it. If they decide to buy the car, the rental fee is waived.
The process is seamless. Customers can browse available cars online, reserve their choice, and take it home for a no-pressure test run. Impressively, 80% of Rent2Buy participants go on to purchase the vehicle they tested, proof of the program’s effectiveness in helping customers make informed decisions.
Hertz Car Sales EVP Jeff Adams said, “Buying a car is one of life’s biggest decisions, and we believe customers deserve more than a spin around the block to make it. Rent2Buy reflects how we’re rethinking every part of the customer experience at Hertz: giving people the time, tools, and transparency to feel confident in their choices. Whether it’s testing how a car fits into your daily life or simply making sure it feels right, Rent2Buy puts the power back in the customer’s hands, with no pressure and no surprises.”
Hertz backs each Rent2Buy vehicle with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance, travel breakdown protection, and a 7-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee. Since these cars are pulled directly from Hertz’s rental fleet, buyers get early access to newer, low-mileage models that are typically priced below suggested Kelley Blue Book values.
