Hot on the heels of its announcement that booking by phone would no longer carry an additional fee, Delta continues to build on its customer experience with the news that on-board entertainment, provided through the brand’s Delta Studio suite, will be offered for free on almost 90% of planes by July 1.
In-flight entertainment, considered a luxury only a few short years ago, has become a primary point of differentiation for airlines looking to earn brand loyalty through top-tier customer experience. The Delta selection includes all Best Picture nominees during awards season, in addition to current top box office earners.
“The only thing better than operating the world’s largest in-flight entertainment-equipped fleet is providing it free to all our guests,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Our commitment is to provide Delta customers with the industry's best on-board services – period.”
Delta Studio offers a streaming service available on laptops and mobile devices in more than 1,000 aircraft, while almost 400 enhance the experience with built-in seatback entertainment systems.
In terms of market presence, Delta’s resume speaks for itself: The airline consistently earns top ratings in trade publications, including a top ranking in the Business Travel News Annual Airline survey for six consecutive years.
The airline is also one of the most prolific in the world, serving nearly 180 customers annually. Delta boasts a fleet of over 800 planes, about 720 of which are class-two aircraft that will offer free Delta Studio service.
Gone are the days of offering only one option for in-flight movie. Customers today expect choice and Delta Suite is able to provide that in spades. Depending on flight and plane model, customers are able to access up to 300 movies, 750 TV shows, 2,400 songs, and even 18 channels of live TV.
Delta is renowned for its recent improvements to customer experience, adding features like ambient LED lighting, power outlets in seats, high capacity overhead bins, and now, a world-class entertainment suite free of charge.
