With the holidays firmly in the rearview, some consumers may still have an unused gift card lying on a counter, hidden in a junk drawer or tucked away in a wallet. This is nothing new, but it is becoming more of a rarity. The total unused value – or “spillage” – of gift cards has gone down drastically.
