While analysts debate whether we’re now in the post-PC era, the bigger question is this: are we actually in the midst of a far more profound leap into the post-hardware world?
I don’t mean to imply that hardware’s going anywhere: from Intel to Apple and on up to a wide swath of systems vendors, hardware innovation is alive and well and in many cases thriving.
Rather, the key point is that the IT industry is no longer led by....
