Wyndham Rewards® Loyalty Program Members Help Red Cross Partnership

More and more, companies are making it a priority to be socially aware entities acting with the greater good in mind. When a company exhibits social responsibility like this, it is often rewarded with patronage by customers whose values align with its own.

In keeping with this approach, Wyndham Rewards® recently announced it will match member point donations to the American Red Cross through the end of the year—up to one million Wyndham Rewards points in matches.

The Red Cross is a recent addition to the growing list of charitable organizations that members of Wyndham Rewards can donate to with points acquired through the program. Other organizations include the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Christel House International, Hole in the Wall Camps, and Hotels for Heroes.

Mike Mueller, vice president of loyalty, marketing and partnerships at Wyndham Hotel Group, told Loyalty360 that members of the Wyndham Rewards program have expressed a desire to make a positive difference, and partnering with charitable organizations like the Red Cross gives them an opportunity to do so.

“We regularly get questions from our member base about how they can help in times of tragedy. Loyalty program members, and ours in particular, are generous and responsive to the needs of others,” Mueller explained. “Our relationship with Red Cross facilitates the ability of our members to make a difference through points donations which are converted to cash. We are so proud to be able to respond to global needs during difficult time through relationships like this and our other philanthropy partners.”

Members are able to donate to the Red Cross through their member accounts. The minimum donation of 3,000 points equals a $15 donation, and the maximum 22,000 points equals a $100 donation. In comparison, a free night at any Wyndham hotel can be secured starting at 5,500 points, according to the rewards website.

No matter how much is donated, 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Red Cross to assist with domestic and international disaster relief efforts, preparedness education and blood services.

Mueller said the goal of the partnership is to empower the more than 37 Wyndham Rewards members, offering them a simple and easy way to give back to communities in need, whether during times of disaster or otherwise.
