Walgreens is relaunching its Balance Rewards loyalty program as myWalgreens. The drugstore giant is teasing the upcoming introduction of myWalgreens, which it is promoting as “a one-of-a-kind personalized experience that makes saving, shopping and your well-being easier.” Walgreens only says that myWalgreens is coming “soon.”
As part of this rebranding, Walgreens will phase out its existing Balance Rewards program. Existing Balance Rewards members will have to sign up for myWalgreens, but as long as they do so by Jan. 31, 2021, they will keep any existing points. Walgreens has not specified when it will officially end Balance Rewards.
In addition, Walgreens is ending its Beauty Enthusiast program as of Oct. 31, 2020, but myWalgreens will offer rewards on beauty purchases. The Walgreens Plus prescription discount program will no longer accept enrollments or renewals beginning Nov. 5, 2020, but current active members can continue using their benefits.
Any consumer 16 or older will be eligible to join myWalgreens, and AARP members will continue to receive additional exclusive benefits. When myWalgreens launches, customers can sign up by visiting myWalgreens.com, with the Walgreens app, or at Walgreens stores. Balance Rewards members will receive email invitations to join.
