Walmart and Best Friends Animal Society Celebrate National Pet Month
In celebration of National Pet Month this May, Walmart has partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to promote pet adoption and make pet ownership more accessible. Recognizing that 61% of pet owners find pet-related expenses higher than anticipated, Walmart is offering significant discounts on pet essentials both in-store and online. Additionally, Walmart is collaborating with suppliers like Blue Buffalo, which will donate up to $550,000 to Best Friends Animal Society for select product purchases. These funds aim to cover adoption fees at Best Friends locations nationwide, including cities such as Houston, Los Angeles, and New York City.
On May 17th, Walmart and Best Friends will host pet adoption events at select Walmart locations across the country. These events will feature waived adoption fees, courtesy of Walmart and Blue Buffalo, and will offer giveaways and sampling opportunities. New adopters will also receive goodie bags filled with essential pet products.
This initiative is part of Walmart’s broader commitment to supporting pet owners and animal welfare. Over the past year, Walmart and its suppliers have collectively donated over $1 million to Best Friends Animal Society. By combining product discounts with charitable contributions and adoption events, Walmart aims to make pet ownership more affordable and help find good home to animals in need.
