Starbucks Adds Secret Menu to Mobile App
Starbucks has officially embraced its once “secret menu” by adding a selection of fan-favorite custom drinks to its mobile app. As of July 14, Starbucks Rewards members can find these orders under the “offers” tab and place them with pre-defined customizations—no need to manually specify multiple add-ons at checkout. The initial lineup includes four creations: Cookies on Top (Cold Brew with vanilla syrup, vanilla sweet cream foam, and cookie crumbles for a cookies-and-cream vibe); Dragonfruit Glow-Up (a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher blended with peach juice and topped with vanilla cream foam); Lemon, Tea & Pearls (Iced Black Tea Lemonade with raspberry popping pearls); and Just Add White Mocha (Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso enhanced with white chocolate mocha sauce and sweet cream foam).
Alongside formally bringing these secret tweaks to the app, Starbucks is also kicking off a “Secret Menu Contest”, now until July 20th, open to both customers and baristas. Entrants can submit their own creative drink recipes, and four finalists will each receive $5,000 and see their drinks featured in the app between August 18–25. Then, an Instagram poll from August 18–20 will decide the grand prize winner, who will walk away with a substantial $25,000 award.
This move reflects a broader trend of food and beverage chains incorporating social media–driven customization into their official offerings, making fan-made concoctions easier to order and monetizing online buzz.
