Taco Bell Releases Plant-Based Carne Asada

Taco Bell recently announced the Beyond Carne Asada Steak in collaboration with Beyond Meat. This item will be available as an LTO in test markets and will be featured in the Beyond Steak quesadilla. Customers can swap the protein in any menu item and there is no additional cost.

This will be Beyond Meat’s first plant-based steak product: previously the company has only created vegan ground beef and beef crumbles. According to Taco Bell, plant-based orders account for 12% of all sales.

FedEx Raises Rates

FedEx is raising rates for its Home Delivery, Ground and Express services by an average of 6.9% beginning in January to help offset slowing global volume amid overall economic concerns. The shipper recently unveiled a plan to cut costs by decreasing flights, closing some sorting locations and curtailing Sunday deliveries.

The company announced its rate hikes and cost-cutting efforts after its first-quarter fiscal results were hit by weakening global demand.
