Planet Fitness Holds “Flexing for Good” Event to Support Communities
Planet Fitness recently held its yearly “Flexing for Good” initiative, encouraging team members and franchisees to volunteer and support their local communities. Through the initiative, volunteers spent around 800 hours giving back to their communities, supporting organizations virtually and in person. Some nonprofits benefitting from the “Flexing for Good” volunteer efforts include St. Jude’s Research Hospital, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Hire Heroes USA, and various food banks and hospitals. Planet Fitness also hosted donation drives nationwide for its non-profit partner, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, along with several community organizations.
Planet Fitness Chief Corporate Affairs Officer McCall Gosselin said, “At Planet Fitness, providing access to fitness and ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported both in our clubs and in our communities is core to what we stand for as a brand. Our annual ‘Flexing for Good’ volunteer initiative provides team members with the opportunity to give back to the communities we serve, and we were thrilled to invite our franchisees and their teams to participate in the initiative with us this year.”
Volunteer efforts were diverse and impactful. For example, participants from Planet Fitness cleaned beaches with the Blue Ocean Society, helped prepare meals at the New Hampshire Food Bank, and supported youth education by filling backpacks with school supplies at Boys & Girls Clubs. Franchisees also provided career mentoring to veterans through Hire Heroes USA and helped build homes with Habitat for Humanity. In addition, Planet Fitness hosted fitness and wellness events to educate children on the importance of exercise and health.

Survey Reveals Younger Generations Look to Social Media for Financial Advice
A recent U.S. consumer study by FIS highlights a major shift in how younger generations seek financial advice, revealing that social media has overtaken traditional financial institutions as their primary source of financial guidance. According to the survey, 36% of Millennials and 40% of Gen Z consumers rely on social media platforms for financial advice, while less than 25% turn to their financial institutions. The trend is not without consequences, as fragmented advice on these platforms leads to unrealistic comparisons and increased anxiety about their finances.
FIS General Manager of Digital and Open Banking Hashim Toussaint said, “This research highlights a pivotal moment for the financial services industry. As younger generations increasingly turn to digital platforms for financial advice, traditional banks must evolve to meet their changing expectations. By offering personalized, data-driven solutions, we can bridge the trust gap and support consumers in making informed financial decisions, bringing greater harmony to their financial lives.”
The study also showed that financial stress is prevalent across all generations. Sixty-eight percent of Gen Z and Millennials and 63% of Gen X reported that money is a significant emotional stressor. The stress is exacerbated by frequent account checking. Adding concern to the survey’s findings, 55% of respondents are concerned that they won’t ever be able to retire.
