Loyalty360 Reads: November 9: Macy’s Invests in Minority-Owned Companies, BlueCross BlueShield Honors Health Heroes, and More

Macy’s Invests in Minority-Owned Companies
Macy’s plans to invest $30 million in loan funds over the next five years to provide minority-owned companies with the capital they need to grow their businesses. The department store has partnered with Momentus Capital to launch a program to advance entrepreneurial growth and increase investment in diverse-owned and underrepresented businesses.

Macy’s will invest a total $30 million in the new program, which is called S.P.U.R. Pathways: Shared Purpose, Unlimited Reach, which will also provide a full suite of educational resources, fueling a holistic supplier ecosystem and acting as a catalyst for outsized growth.

Empire BlueCross BlueShield Honors Health Heroes
Empire BlueCross BlueShield has announced the 25 “Whole Health Heroes.” Empire, in partnership with Crain’s New York Business, created the program to honor and celebrate individuals who are committed to materially and measurably improving the whole health of New Yorkers. This year’s awards focus on recognizing those who are committed to innovation and leadership.

The award recognizes leaders who are establishing and implementing employee wellness strategies within their organization to promote mental and overall health and using their influence to advance social and financial health within their community or for the benefit of New York’s underserved communities.

Research Shows Automation Key to Staffing Issues
New research from Verint finds more than 60 percent of retailers are challenged to find qualified candidates to staff their stores, while 45 percent are struggling to fill contact center and back-office positions. Faced with labor shortages this holiday season and challenged to meet consumer demands across numerous engagement channels, Verint says retailers may need to face the new reality of the automation imperative.

“Staffing shortages in stores, in the back-office, and contact center roles will challenge retailers in their efforts to provide exceptional customer experiences to satisfy shoppers during the busy holiday shopping season this year,” says Verint’s Jenni Palocsik, vice president, marketing insights, experience and enablement. “Leveraging automation is absolutely critical to fill workforce gaps and create a connected customer engagement strategy of humans and bots.”
