Mastercard Economics Institute Reports Surge in Global Flights
Research from Mastercard Economics Institute shows global leisure and business flight bookings have surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Spending on cruise lines, busses and trains improved as well. If flight booking trends continue at this pace, an estimated 1.5 billion more passengers will fly globally in 2022 compared to 2021.

“Like any flight, the travel recovery has faced both headwinds and tailwinds. As the ‘Great Rebalancing’ takes place around the world, this mobility is critical to a return to pre-pandemic life,” said Bricklin Dwyer, Mastercard chief economist and head of the Mastercard Economics Institute. 

Gushers Releases Custom Virtual Sneakers in Metaverse
Gushers introduced a limited-edition virtual sneaker exclusively available in the metaverse. Within the digital experience on ComplexLand, Gushers fans can search for a special code to outfit their avatar in the virtual Gushers sneakers.

Fans will also unlock a chance to win a pair of the exclusive shoes in real life. Gushers partnered with Italian design studio RAL7000STUDIO to design the new sneaker.

Veeve and Albertsons Partner to Expand AI Customer Experience
Veeve retail technology company has partnered with Albertsons to make Veeve Smart Carts available to customers in select stores. Consumers will be able to use the smart carts to skip the checkout line, offering a contactless shopping experience.

Veeve Smart Carts offer a more personalized shopping experience enabled by a touch screen that provides a running total for in-cart items and a built-in scale for produce purchase. The tech-enhanced carts will also integrate with the Albertsons for U loyalty program. Once done shopping, customers can complete payment on their cart and skip the checkout line.
