RaceTrac Offers New Fuel Rewards VIP Program Free for Healthcare and Other Essential Workers
 
RaceTrac has announced it is offering RaceTrac Rewards VIP Program to healthcare and other essential workers free for their first month. From now through August 31, every worker recognized by the Department of Homeland Security as essential that signs up during this period will get their first month of the program free from their sign-up date.
 
According to a RaceTrac press release, "RaceTrac Rewards VIP is a monthly fuel subscription program where members will save 10 cents per gallon on the first 40 gallons and 3 cents per gallon thereafter each month with each fuel purchase. The subscription fee is $2.49 per month. As a premium add-on to RaceTrac's loyalty program, which gives various coupons and promotions on RaceTrac in-store products, those who upgrade to RaceTrac Rewards VIP offers members discounts at the pump."

Google Employees Can Work from Home Until July 2021
 
According to an NPR article, Google has announced that it will allow its employees to work from home for at least another year. The company had previously expected most employees to return to the office by the end of the year and reopened some offices around the world.
 
CEO Sundar Pichai has told staff by email, quoted in the NPR article linked above, "To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021, for roles that don't need to be in the office."

Walgreens Now Offers Nationwide Same-Day Curbside Pick-Up
 
Walgreens has announced that it is offering contactless same-day curbside pickup at the brand's more than 8,600 participating stores nationwide. Same-day pickup is available at these locations from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local times. To guarantee the same-day pickup, the order must be received by 5 p.m. local.
 
"We are always looking to provide our customers with safe, easy and convenient contactless shopping options to get the retail items they need, whether that's via same-day delivery through our collaborations with DoorDash and Postmates, same-day pick-up with our order online pick-up at drive-thru, or now via our newest digital enhancement, order online pick-up at curbside," said Stefanie Kruse, vice president, digital commerce and omnichannel at Walgreens, in an article on Walgreens' website.

Facebook Offers Money to Reel in TikTok Creators
 
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Instagram, owned by Facebook, has started offering money to TikTok creators with millions of followers to try and get them to use a competing service. This new service is, according to the article, called Reels, which Facebook plans to reveal next month.
 
Instagram has "approached a diverse range of creators about Reels in several of the countries where it's currently being tested," company spokeswoman Sarissa Thrower said in the above article. "We remain committed to investing in both our creators and their experience."

Amazon Revamps its Alexa App to Focus on First-Party Features, More Personalization
 
Amazon has introduced an updated Alexa mobile app, according to a TechCrunch article. This new app creates a more personalized experience as well as more instructions on how and when users and can use digital assistant, as well as other changes. It comes with an updated home screen.
 
Some other updates include a deprioritization of Alexa's third-party voice skills, its "Skill & Games" section has been shifted to the "More" part and added a "Play" button to encourage media playback.
