Chipotle Leverages AI Automated System for Efficient Meal Creation
Chipotle Mexican Grill announced today it is testing an automated makeline thanks to its new partnership with Hyphen, a food service platform designed to help restaurants move their business forward by automating kitchen operations. At Chipotle, this automated technology will support restaurant employees by creating bowls and salads while the employees create larger, more complicated dishes like burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. The new system will be tested in select Chipotle locations and will move the entrées through the bottom makeline while employees create the more complex dishes on the top makeline.
The Hyphen Automated Process
When digital orders are placed via the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com, or third-party platforms, the Chipotle team will be alerted of the order. If the order includes a bowl or salad, those entrées will be sent to Hyphen’s automated system. The bowl traverses along the bottom makeline and positions itself under the specified ingredient container. The intelligent dispensers add the proper portion of each ingredient into the bowl. Once the bowl or salad is completed, it will be raised from the bottom makeline and be revealed at the end of the makeline through an opening in the countertop. Employees will then complete the order and place the bowls and salads with the rest of the order in the specific order-type shelf or window.
Impact on Chipotle Team Members and Guests
Approximately 65% of all Chipotle digital orders are bowls or salads, so the automated technology has the potential to free up more time for employees to serve customer needs and focus their food preparation solely on the front makeline. This is ideal for delivering exceptional hospitality, while simultaneously increasing capacity for digital orders during peak periods.

Rio Hotel & Casino Reveals Rio Rewards
The Rio Hotel & Casino has unveiled its new rewards program to help guests save as they stay. Kevin Sweet, Chief Gaming Officer of the Rio, expressed his enthusiasm for Rio Rewards with Dreamscape's new leadership.
