Facebook is looking to align its business priorities with the marketing needs of brands, with the creating of a “client council.”

This is according to a new blog post by Facebook’s vice-president of EMEA and architect of the council, Nicola Mendelsohn.

Brands that have signed up for the council include Unilever, Red Bull, Mondelez, Samsung, BMW, Procter & Gamble, and Volkswagen, with various representatives from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East  The goal is to drive creativity in advertising with the copy and imagery used in campaigns on the social network.

In the blog post, Mendelsohn wrote: She wrote: "We believe that developed and high-growth countries have much to learn from each other and wanted to create a forum where some of the best minds in the business can listen, inspire and share ideas about the future of marketing."

Rob Master, VP, Media for Americas and Europe for Unilever said in the blog post that it is “exciting to see the commitment that Facebook is making to mobile, and naturally that drives marketers like Unilever to also become more mobile-centric.”

Other companies that have signed on include Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser, Walt Disney; while the agency list includes Mediacom and Aegis Media.

“We have a lot of opportunity to give people the best experiences online, support brands and marketers with tools and strategies to reach the people that matter effectively, and develop the next generation of marketing innovation,” wrote Medelshon.
