Amazon Introduces Affordable Grocery Delivery Subscription for Prime and EBT Customers

Amazon launched a new low-cost monthly grocery delivery subscription service for Prime members and Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cardholders. The service will be available in more than 3,500 cities and towns across the United States. The subscription offers unlimited grocery delivery on orders exceeding $35 from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and local grocery and specialty retailers, including Rite Aid, Cardenas Markets, Bartell Drugs, Save Mart, Mission Wine & Spirits, Pet Food Express, and more. The service will provide subscribers access to almost 100,000 grocery store items.

The subscription is available for $9.99 per month for Prime members and at a reduced fee of $4.99 a month for EBT cardholders. What’s more, EBT cardholders won’t need a Prime membership to receive the grocery delivery service.

Amazon says the subscription fees pay for themselves with only one monthly delivery order. A 30-day free trial is also available for anyone wanting to try out the subscription to see if it works for them.

Subscribers can enjoy the convenience of shopping from a vast selection of national brands, organic, and natural foods as often as needed. Where the service is available, one-hour delivery windows are offered at no additional cost. Furthermore, subscribers benefit from unlimited 30-minute pickup for any order size and priority access to Recurring Reservations for weekly grocery orders.

Amazon piloted the program in late 2023 across Denver, Colorado, Columbus, Ohio, and Sacramento, California. Over 85% of participants expressed high satisfaction levels, citing money savings and more convenience as key benefits. There are also exclusive deals for Prime members shopping Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, including the opportunity to earn unlimited 5% back on purchases with the Prime Visa card, whether shopping online or in-store.
