UK Electric Air Taxi Service on the Horizon: Joby and Virgin Atlantic Announce Partnership 

Joby Aviation and Virgin Atlantic have announced a partnership to launch electric air taxi services in the United Kingdom, marking a significant step forward in sustainable urban air mobility. The partnership will focus on connecting regional areas to major airports, beginning with routes that support Virgin Atlantic’s operations at London Heathrow and Manchester Airport. The service aims to reduce ground travel time dramatically by offering vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flights using Joby’s piloted, all-electric aircraft. 

Joby’s aircraft, which accommodates one pilot and four passengers, is designed to reach speeds of up to 200 mph and has a maximum range of 100 miles. This capability enables a typical 60-to-90-minute car journey to be completed in just seven minutes by air. Virgin Atlantic plans to integrate the booking experience directly into its customer journey via its digital platforms, offering a seamless end-to-end travel solution. The companies envision a broader transformation of airport access and connectivity, aligning with growing demand for efficient, low-emission alternatives to traditional transport. 

The initiative is supported by the UK Government’s Future Flight Challenge, led by UK Research and Innovation, which is investing in next-generation aviation technologies. Joby and Virgin Atlantic’s collaboration not only positions them at the forefront of the UK’s emerging advanced air mobility (AAM) ecosystem, but also contributes to the country’s long-term decarbonization goals. With regulatory support and strategic airport partnerships in place, the project is expected to lay the groundwork for scaled commercial operations in the near future.

CARFAX Canada has introduced the Service Suite, a comprehensive customer engagement solution designed to assist Canadian dealerships and service centers in boosting service revenue and fostering long-term customer loyalty. By delivering timely, co-branded service reminders and leveraging data-driven insights, the Service Suite aims to encourage repeat service visits and empower vehicle owners to make informed maintenance decisions. 

The Service Suite comprises two key components: Car Care and Service Insights. Car Care is an automated email communication tool that enables dealerships and service shops to send personalized maintenance reminders to customers, tailored to their specific vehicles. This feature helps maintain customer engagement throughout the vehicle ownership period by keeping the dealership's brand prominent as customers plan their next service appointment. Additionally, Car Care provides access to real-time performance metrics, facilitates responses to customer reviews, and assists in managing customer lists.  

Service Insights offers customer-facing reports that predict upcoming repair and maintenance needs using CARFAX Canada's proprietary data analytics. These reports assist service advisors in clearly explaining necessary and recommended services throughout a vehicle's lifecycle, emphasizing the consequences of deferring maintenance. By providing third-party validation from a trusted brand, Service Insights increases the likelihood of service recommendation approvals and enhances repair order values. According to CARFAX Canada, nearly six out of ten car owners are more inclined to approve additional work when presented with a Service Insights report.
