7-Eleven Stores Hire More Than 50,000 Amid Pandemic, Expects to Add 20,000 More
In March, 7-Eleven made the call to employ 20,000 new store employees. Since then, the company estimates the organization and independent 7-Eleven franchise owners have hired more than twice that many: over 50,000.

And they're recruiting 20,000 more to work in its 9,000+ U.S. stores to meet continued demand for 7-Eleven products and services amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I am constantly inspired by our 7-Eleven Heroes – franchisees and employees alike – who have stepped up to serve communities as we continue to navigate through the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic," says Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and chief executive officer. "Hiring 20,000 more store employees allows us to continue to fulfill our mission to give customers what they want, when and where they want it, whether in stores or at home."

Best Buy Opening Late On Election Day, Offering Paid Time Off For Poll Workers
Best Buy stores won’t open until noon local time on Election Day, so store employees have the time they need to cast a ballot in person, if they choose. They will make accommodations to ensure those who work in their supply chain locations, field offices, call centers and customers’ homes also get the time they need.

In addition, they are also giving paid time off to employees who volunteer to work at the polls on Election Day to help address a nationwide shortage. Jurisdictions across the country are looking to recruit thousands of healthy, low-risk people in the community to help keep polling sites open and available for in-person voting. Additionally, the company will help educate interested employees on how to sign up to volunteer, what to expect and more.

Allegiant Air Gets Massive NFL Publicity On Monday Night Football
Allegiant Air was in an unusual position on September 21 —bathed in publicity. Forbes reports that’s because a long-term investment the low-cost airline made was finally be on display. That would be the world unveiling of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday Night Football, as the home team Las Vegas Raiders tackle the New Orleans Saints.

Allegiant reportedly paid some $25 million per year (in cash and kind) for 20 or 30 years (reports differ) for the naming rights to the imposing stadium, whose hulking black form have led many to call it the “Death Star.” Allegiant, which is based in the Las Vegas suburb of Summerlin, would do well if the famously loyal fans of the Raiders see it as “their” airline, Forbes says.

Allegiant does not appear by name in a recent ranking of US airlines by market share. The list is as usual led by the big four, American, Delta, Southwest and United that control a combined 66% of the market. The smallest listed airlines by market share are Frontier, 3.3%, SkyWest 2.9% and Hawaiian, 1.6%. Allegiant, which by other estimates is ninth in the marketplace, is no doubt included in the 10% “other” category.
