KFC and Walmart Canada Tackle Sustainability

Major brands are taking steps to adopt eco-friendly, sustainable practices. Joining that effort are KFC and Walmart Canada. The former states that all consumer-facing packaging will be recoverable or recyclable by 2025. The latter plans to take a billion plastic bags out of circulation by 2025.

Consumers are more likely to give loyalty to brands that are perceived as conscientious, and environmental issues are one of their primary concerns. “This commitment represents a public acknowledgment of the obligation we have to address these serious issues,” says Tony Lowings, KFC’s CEO.

Domino’s Launches Alternative to Super Bowl TV Spot

On February 2, in preparation for the Super Bowl, Domino’s will begin offering rewards points for all pizza purchases through its new Points for Pies program. Customers who download the most current Domino’s app can sign up for the Piece of the Pie Rewards loyalty program, use the newly-embedded pizza identification feature to scan their pizza, and will then earn 10 points. After a customer earns 60 points, they can redeem them for a free medium two-topping pizza.

“Instead of advertising during Sunday’s game, we decided to invest in a breakthrough program that rewards everyone who loves pizza as much as we do,” says Art D’Elia, Domino’s Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer. “We know everyone is asking themselves, ‘Did Domino’s just say they will award points for eating ANY pizza? Even from a competitor?’ You read that right; oh yes we did!”
