Bojangles Powers Up for the Future With Nationwide EV Charging Stations
Bojangles, the iconic Southern restaurant chain beloved for its fried chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea, is launching a sustainability initiative to enhance both customer convenience and environmental responsibility. In collaboration with Smart Big Box,
Alyath EV, and Energy and Environmental Design Services, Bojangles will begin installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across a variety of its locations to cater to EV drivers.
Bojangles’ Chief Information Officer Richard Del Valle said, “Bojangles’ focus is on offering a fast, friendly, and convenient experience for our guests, and working with Alyath and Smart Big Box allows us to introduce a new convenience that aligns with evolving customer needs. These top-of-the-line EV chargers will not only improve accessibility for our guests but also help drive an eco-friendlier future.”
The initiative is designed to support the growing population of EV drivers seeking dependable charging options while on the road. The stations will offer a mix of Level 2 (moderate) and Level 3 (fast) chargers, each boasting over 97% operational uptime. With a minimum of four charging spots per restaurant, customers will be able to charge their vehicles and enjoy Bojangles’ signature food and service during the process. With Energy and Environmental Design Services handling installation and maintenance, the chargers are set to provide consistent, high-performance service. The rollout begins in late 2025, with widespread access expected throughout 2026.
Applebee’s Unveils 21st Annual Campaign to Fight Cancer
Applebee’s® has launched its annual campaign supporting
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit focused on pediatric cancer research and support for affected families. Running through August 31, the initiative celebrates 21 years of partnership between Applebee’s and ALSF. During the fundraiser, 50 cents from every new Strawberry Lemon Sunshine drink sold in Applebee’s restaurants will be donated to ALSF. Additionally, Applebee’s locations across the country are transforming into symbolic “Lemonade Stands,” encouraging guests to join the fight against childhood cancer through various donation opportunities. Since the collaboration began in 2005, Applebee’s has contributed more than $18 million to ALSF, helping fund approximately 360,000 hours of critical pediatric cancer research.
Applebee’s President and Dine Brands CEO John Peyton said, “We’re honored to celebrate 21 years of partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and to have raised more than $18 million to fund lifesaving pediatric cancer research. At Applebee’s, we take Doin’ Good in the Neighborhood to heart and together with our franchisees and guests, look forward to raising more than ever this year!”
The story of ALSF began with Alexandra “Alex” Scott, a young girl battling cancer who raised $1 million through her own lemonade stands before her passing at age 8. Today, ALSF has grown into the largest independent childhood cancer charity in the U.S., supporting research globally and offering services to families navigating cancer treatment. Applebee’s guests can join in the cause by adding Digital Lemons in the amounts of $1, $5, $10, or $20 to their carts when ordering online or through the mobile app. Guests can also click the “Donate Now” button on Applebee’s website when purchasing a gift card.
