JetBlue has unveiled two major updates with regards to baggage handling. The changes are designed to give travelers added peace of mind about their luggage when in transit. The airline’s mobile app now offers real-time tracking of checked luggage, and customers using Apple AirTags or Find My network accessories can securely share their item’s location with JetBlue’s Baggage Service team to assist in recovering delayed or misplaced bags.
JetBlue Chief Digital and Technology Officer Carol Clements said, “We are constantly looking for ways to offer our customers a more convenient travel experience. As part of our JetForward strategy, we’re focused on delivering the products and perks our customers want. This new in-app bag tracking feature, along with AirTag location sharing for baggage recovery, are designed to bring customers peace of mind when checking their bags with JetBlue.”
Expanding beyond standard email notifications, JetBlue’s app now delivers live updates on the status of checked bags throughout a customer’s journey. Travelers can monitor their luggage directly within the app, helping streamline the travel experience and reduce uncertainty about baggage status.
In the rare cases where luggage is delayed or mishandled, customers who use Apple AirTags or other Find My network accessories can now share the location of their tagged item with JetBlue’s baggage recovery team. This is done securely through a Share Item Location link generated in Apple’s Find My app. Travelers can provide this link by scanning a QR code in the baggage claim area or by speaking with a crewmember at the Baggage Service Office. Shared access automatically expires once the bag is returned, and customers maintain full control over their privacy settings.
JetBlue has a strong track record in baggage handling, ranking second among all U.S. carriers in 2024 according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Fewer than 1% of JetBlue customers experience bag delays, a testament to the airline’s investment in customer-first technology and operational reliability.
