CIBC has announced it is rewarding Canadian health care workers by giving away 30 million Aventura points. Aventura points are a part of the Aventura rewards program, where CIBC clients can earn points on every $1 spent, which can be redeemed for flights, cruises, vacation packages, or general merchandise. Through the CIBC Holidays for Heroes program, individuals can nominate a frontline healthcare worker who has been working to keep people safe during the pandemic. These workers will be chosen randomly to receive a travel voucher, which will let them take a holiday on a future date. Nominations are available to be made at CIBCHolidaysForHeroes.com.
"As we mark National Nursing Week this week, it's timely to reflect on the role health care workers are playing in our society today. No one will need a physical and mental break when we emerge from this pandemic more than our frontline health care workers," said Victor G. Dodig, President and CEO, CIBC in a press release.
"Since the beginning of this pandemic, our communities have relied heavily on their strength and courage, and our new Holidays for Heroes program is one way to show our appreciation for all they've done for us. The Holidays for Heroes program is one way we can show our deep appreciation for the sacrifices our frontline health care workers have made for Canadians, by giving them the opportunity to rest and recharge with their families. The holidays these heroes take are also one small way of supporting local businesses when economies can safely reopen."
The brand also has its CIBC Future Heroes Fund Bursary Program to help future healthcare workers get to where they want to be. This program will reward 200 bursaries that are valued at $2,500 each to first-year students enrolling in a variety of healthcare programs. Canadians have been invited to help this fund by going to this website and donating.

CIBC has also previously announced that its support measures have helped over 200,000 personal and small business banking clients with over $3 billion in improved cash flow through bank deferrals on mortgages, loans, and credit cards as well as loans to small businesses through the Canada Emergency Business Account.
