Loyalty360 Reads: PayPal Taps Will Ferrell in New Campaign Promo, Kona Ice Celebrates Teachers, and Tour Company Collette Reveals Refreshed Loyalty Program

PayPal Collabs with Will Ferrell for “Everywhere” Campaign

PayPal launched a campaign featuring comedian Will Ferrell and a PayPal-inspired version of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic hit, “Everywhere.” The campaign highlights how easy and rewarding it can be to shop with PayPal, using the PayPal Debit Mastercard both in-store and online. Ferrell stars in the ad, showing how shoppers can earn rewards while purchasing groceries, trendy streetwear, and even charging an electric vehicle. The ad, which debuted on September 9 during the season’s first televised football game, is set to run through the end of 2024.

“Starring Will Ferrell and powered by the music of Fleetwood Mac, our new campaign drives home the idea that PayPal is truly everywhere and more rewarding than ever,” said Geoff Seeley, Chief Marketing Officer at PayPal. “This points to the exciting direction we’re heading in as we continue to evolve PayPal into an easy, safe, and rewarding way to shop everywhere.”

The campaign will promote PayPal’s 5% cashback rewards program, how easy it is for customers to add the PayPal Debit Mastercard to their mobile wallet, and stackable checkout rewards. In addition to the “Everywhere” campaign, PayPal is launching a new omnichannel marketing campaign across several platforms, including social media, out-of-home, streaming and radio, influencer marketing, and podcast reads.

Kona Ice Honors Teachers with Kona ACE Program

Kona Ice, a mobile shaved ice franchise, unveiled its Kona ACE Program in August aimed at honoring outstanding educators across the U.S. ACE stands for “Accomplished and Celebrated Educators” and seeks to recognize teachers who show exceptional dedication to their students and schools. As part of its long-standing commitment to education, Kona Ice has donated over $180 million to local schools, teams, and organizations since 2007.

Kona Ice Senior Vice President of Operational Support, Development, and Marketing, Darren Varnado, stated, “We really want to celebrate teachers, as schools are one of our largest areas of business.” Varnado added, “The idea is that school principals, leadership, and the local community can nominate a teacher who goes above and beyond. We want to recognize them not just with recognition but also with a gift certificate so they can purchase some of the consumables they need throughout the school year from places like Walmart. Additionally, they can go to our Kona shop and buy various items, such as pencils and folders.”

Local communities, school principals, and school leadership can nominate teachers they feel have impacted their schools for the better. There is a multi-tiered selection process for 60 Tier 1 winners, leading to 12 regional winners. From this smaller pool, one national winner will be chosen.

Collette Enhances Customer Experience for Travelers with Refreshed Loyalty Program

Collette refreshed its Passport Club loyalty program, which rewards travel guests with perks for tour bookings within a set time frame after a previous trip. The tour company is expanding the range of dates travelers can receive their loyalty credits as well as credit expiration dates.

Guests who travel with Collette automatically become Level 1: Adventurer loyalty program members. During their next tour booking with Collette, they receive a credit. Once they’ve completed a third tour with the company, members are upgraded to Level 2: Explorer tier.

“We want to reward our travelers for exploring the world with us,” said Collette CEO Jaclyn Leibl-Cote. “With our dynamic program, the more they travel, the more they’ll receive. Plus, the bigger the trip, the bigger the credit. This year, we’ve worked to extend the benefits of the Passport Club. Travelers’ loyalty credit now lasts longer, and they’ll also accumulate credit for pre- and post-tour accommodations. We are grateful to our family of travelers and want to reward them for every adventure they take with us.”

Members receive either a 5% loyalty credit for tours booked and completed within 24 months of their last tour’s departure date or a 3% credit for tours booked and completed 25 to 36 months of their initial trip. Level 2: Explorer members will also receive $100 in credits that can redeemed on upgrades or optional tour components. Members must complete the tour within three years of their most recent trip to receive the credit.
