Delta Donates $1M to Support California Wildfire Relief Efforts

Delta Air Lines has announced it is pledging a $1 million contribution to the American Red Cross to support the ongoing relief efforts for the tens of thousands of individuals impacted by the devastating wildfires sweeping through California. The donation is in addition to the airline’s annual $1 million grant as part of its partnership with the American Red Cross through the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). Delta’s longstanding support of the Red Cross enables the organization to provide critical assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and more.

Delta Managing Director of Community Engagement Tad Hutcheson said, “Serving people, whether they are our customers or our neighbors in the communities where we live, work, and serve, is part of Delta’s DNA. The destruction across California and especially in the Los Angeles area is devastating, and we want to do what we can to help those in need. One of the most effective ways we can help the community is by investing in the disaster relief efforts of the American Red Cross, our partner for 84 years.”

In addition to the corporate donation, Delta has created a microsite for customers to directly contribute to wildfire relief efforts. The funds raised through this platform will provide immediate relief for affected individuals.

J.D. Power Study Shows Room for Improvement in Wireless Network Service as Demand Increases

According to the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Wireless Network Quality Performance StudySM, the average time wireless customers are spending on their devices has increased by 40 minutes compared to the first half of 2024. The surge is especially notable among Gen X and Gen Y users, with more than a third of them spending more than eight hours every two days on activities like streaming, browsing, and gaming. As a result of this heightened demand, wireless networks are facing more challenges, including a noticeable increase in network problems rising from 9 to 11 problems per 100 uses.

J.D. Power Senior Director of Technology, Media, and Telecom, Carl Lepper, said, “Streaming has become ubiquitous and is straining networks. Network quality is a critical factor in the customer journey, specifically the second-highest reason why they choose to leave their carrier and join another, behind price. As we have been experiencing this generational trend of increased usage, especially for streaming, gaming, and browsing, networks need to prioritize

The study also examined carrier performance across six U.S. regions, revealing that Verizon Wireless led in several areas, including the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and West regions. UScellular ranked highest in the North Central region, while T-Mobile performed best in the Southeast. AT&T and Verizon tied for the top spot in the Southwest. The study, which surveyed 27.528 wireless customers, highlights the challenges facing the wireless industry as increased usage strains networks, highlighting the importance of continuous improvements in network quality.
