Kohl’s Partners with WW on Wellness Initiative

Kohl’s has teamed up with WW (formerly Weight Watchers International) to support the wellness of its customers, including having WW popups in certain stores this month.

From January 3-27, Kohl’s had in-store pop-up experiences in almost 50 stores across 12 markets, giving “customers the opportunity to shop WW products, speak with a WW wellness coach, sign up for a WW membership, or simply learn more about WW’s program,” according to a Kohl’s release.

The WW popups were available at Kohl’s stores in: Atlanta, Ga.; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Milwaukee, Wis.; Minneapolis, Minn.; New Haven, Conn.; New York,  N.Y.; and San Francisco, Calif.

As part of this overall wellness initiative, Kohl’s is sponsoring the Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour, presented by WW. Kohl’s-branded lounge spaces and specialty welcome bags (that include Kohl’s Cash) are available at each tour stop.

The partnership in 2020 comes after the two brands came together in 2019 with similar goals in mind. The previous arrangement included the debut of the first in-store WW Studio, the introduction of WW Healthy Kitchen products, and subsidized WW Freestyle program memberships for Kohl’s associates through Kohl’s Healthy Rewards.

Michelle Gass, Kohl's CEO, believes the partnership will help support customers' health goals. "We want to encourage families to lead healthy and fulfilled lives, and a strategic partnership with WW provides the opportunity to further advocate for the health and wellbeing of Kohl's customers and our associates," she said in a 2019 statement.

Partnership efforts for Kohl’s seem to be paying off. Last July, Kohl’s started accepting Amazon returns, unpackaged and free of charge, at all locations across the United States. Not only does the partnership benefit Amazon by creating an easier return process, but it meets Kohl’s overall goal of increasing the number of customers exposed to the brand and coming into stores.

By partnering with well-known brands that are committed to outstanding customer experiences, such as Amazon and WW, both brands can enhance customer loyalty – which Kohl’s hopes to continue as it launches new partnerships in 2020.
