Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Marks a Decade of Inclusion and Impact

Bitty & Beau's Coffee is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday, January 25, marking a decade of redefining how people with disabilities are viewed and employed in the workplace. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee was founded in 2016 by Amy and Ben Wright to honor their two youngest children, who were born with Down syndrome. The company was created with a clear mission: to offer people with intellectual and developmental disabilities meaningful, highly visible, customer-facing jobs. What began as a single coffee shop has grown into a nationally recognized brand with locations across the United States and hundreds of employees.

Amy Wright said, “Ten years ago, we were simply trying to build a place our kids could belong. We didn’t know what it would become. This anniversary reminds me that when people are trusted with real work and visible roles, it doesn’t just change a business—it changes how people see one another.”

The company’s approach was shaped by a sobering reality – nearly 80% of people with disabilities in the U.S. remain unemployed. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee was built as a for-profit business where inclusion is woven into everyday operations. By placing employees with disabilities at the center of the customer experience, the brand has challenged outdated assumptions about capability, productivity, and dignity in the workplace, earning national recognition for its impact. To commemorate the milestone, Bitty & Beau’s will host a 10-Year Anniversary Celebration from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at its flagship Wilmington, North Carolina location. The event will feature live music, a DJ and dance floor, complimentary coffee, and opportunities to meet the team members who bring the mission to life each day.
