BMO recently announced the launch of Blue Rewards, a major evolution of the well-known AIR MILES program, created to deliver a more flexible, personalized, and digital-first loyalty experience. Launching this summer, the program will transition AIR MILES into Blue Rewards, continuing to be operated by a BMO subsidiary. The new platform is designed to give millions of Canadians easier ways to earn and redeem rewards while supporting everyday financial progress through a more seamless and modern experience.

BMO Group Head of Canadian Personal & Business Banking, Mathew Mehrotra, said, “Blue Rewards completely reimagines the loyalty experience with the client at the centre. With a digitally enabled platform, we’re making one of Canada’s most celebrated loyalty programs even better by delivering simpler, flexible, more personalized rewards for members and helping them make real financial progress every day.”

Blue Rewards will be available to all Canadians through a newly designed mobile app, with added convenience for BMO clients via full integration into BMO’s Mobile and Online Banking platforms. Members will benefit from a simplified rewards structure, including the automatic conversion of existing Miles into easy-to-use Blue Points at equal value. Travel redemptions will also be streamlined, with a new booking experience for flights, hotels, and car rentals powered by Expedia Group.

The program significantly expands earning and redemption opportunities through a broad partner network of more than 400 brands. New strategic partners include Porter Airlines, Accor hotel brands such as Fairmont and Novotel, Instacart, and a wide range of popular restaurant chains. Members will continue earning rewards on grocery and wholesale purchases by scanning receipts in the app, while existing AIR MILES collectors will transition automatically with no action required.

For BMO clients, Blue Rewards adds exclusive value through debit and credit card earning accelerators on everyday categories such as gas, groceries, wholesale purchases, and EV charging. New Blue Rewards credit cards will introduce enhanced earn rates, lifestyle-focused benefits, and broader point-earning across linked BMO cards. A pre-launch waitlist is now open, offering early access opportunities and prize draws.

Blue Rewards President Shawn Stewart said, “We’re excited to introduce a loyalty experience that fits seamlessly into Canadians’ lives. With more ways to earn, more places to redeem, and a growing network of partners, Blue Rewards is designed to help members find more value in their everyday purchases.”
