Subway to Offer Free Subs If a Lucky Customer Agrees to Change Name
You read that right. Subway is offering free sub sandwiches for life to one lucky winner who has agreed to change his/her name to “Subway”. Readers may think it’s silly, but over 10,000 Subway fans have signed up for the chance at endless sub sandwiches.
Subway will announce the winner by the end of August. The new ‘Subway’ will enjoy free sandwiches just in time for the sandwich chain’s updated menu with a new lineup of Deli Hero subs. The winner of this contest will also receive a cash prize as well as reimbursement for legal fees to complete the name change process.
Super 8 Hotels to Celebrate 50 Years
Super 8® by Wyndham, the economy hotel brand known for being a trusted place for travelers to stay on the road, has kicked-off a year-long celebration for its upcoming 50th anniversary with a pop-up salon in the brand's home state of South Dakota. This celebration will lead to the start of an epic eight-city road trip across the Midwest as Super 8 looks to help some of their most hard-working, loyal guests – truck drivers – get a fresh new look before they head out on the road again.
"We've come a long way since opening our doors in 1974, and while we'll soon turn 50, our hotels, many of which have undergone head-to-toe room renovations these last several years, certainly don't look or feel it," said Mike Mueller, president, Super 8 by Wyndham. "Inspired by our own modern makeover, now we want to help our guests look and feel as good as we do, and we're starting with some of our favorite, most rugged road warriors out there—the heroes of our highways—truckers."
Over the next several days Super 8 hotels will work with local stylists to provide hotel staff, guests and the public with a haircut for a fresh, clean look. These events operate on a first come, first serve basis from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily with the first hour at each stop reserved exclusively for hotel staff and guests. Disney Inspects AI Potential with New Task Force
In order to stay ahead of competitors and streamline business operations, Disney has created a task force to investigate the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). Disney has shown interest in AI with the posting of several roles with experience in artificial intelligence technology. For its parks business, AI could enhance customer support or create exciting and memorable customer interactions.
"AI research at Disney goes back a very long time and revolves around all the things you see being discussed today: Can we have something that helps us make movies, games, or conversational robots inside theme parks that people can talk to?" said one executive who has worked with Disney.
Hao Li, CEO and co-founder of Pinscreen, a technology company that creates AI-driven virtual avatars, said he worked on multiple research papers with Disney's lab while studying in Zurich from 2006 to 2010.
"They do research on performance capture of humans, creating digital faces," said Li, a former research lead at Disney-owned Industrial Light & Magic. "Some of these techniques will be adopted by Disney entities."
