Big Month for Customer Loyalty at Best Western

Officials at Best Western Hotels & Resorts want to take the stress out of checked baggage fees for its loyal customers. Through May 15, under a new campaign called BW Baggage Bucks, Best Western is putting money back into travelers’ pockets.

Any Best Western Rewards loyalty program member staying at a Best Western property and traveling on a commercial flight during the promotion will receive a $25 Travel Card per checked bag. Up to two $25 Travel Cards can be earned during the promotion and guests must simply send proof of payment to baggagebucks@bestwestern.com

Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president & CMO at Best Western, told Loyalty360 that the campaign, which began May 1, is in keeping with the company’s commitment to providing guests with an industry-leading rewards program.

“We are always looking for ways to provide tremendous value and instant gratification to our loyal guests,” Dowling explained. “We believe BW Baggage Bucks does just that–allows travelers to receive an instant $25 Travel Card if they have to pay for checked luggage. The median fee for a first checked bag on an airline is $25, and $35 according to a MONEY survey done last year. Through BW Baggage Bucks, we hope to lessen the burden of travel and bring a smile to our guests.”

Dowling is proud that Best Western can offer this industry-first perk to its loyalty program members.

“This campaign is special because we’re helping to alleviate the stress and frustration associated with having to pay for checked luggage,” she added. “The premise of the campaign is that we all have baggage, but we shouldn’t have to pay for it! We have received tremendous feedback about the creativity of this promotion, as well as the instant gratification it provides our guests. We will look for ways we can replicate this promotion in the future.”

This is a big month for Best Western as its loyalty program officially relaunches on May 18.

“BWR is the only reward program in the industry where points never expire and we don’t have blackout dates,” Dowling said.

As part of the loyalty program relaunch, Dowling noted the following:

We now offer more BWR benefits than ever before and have introduced a unique new digital membership card, giving guests simplified access to their membership number, point balance, current tier level and exclusive deals and offers.

We have the lowest point redemption thresholds that include gift cards, free nights and charitable donations.

We are focused on instant rewards and gratification. For example, our spring and summer promotions provide a $10 gift card for staying at a Best Western property. These are easily attainable rewards that provide instant gratification.

We also recently introduced a new tagline for BWR: Go.Get.Rewarded–which demonstrates our commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience through a simplified, meaningful, and rapid rewards program.
Elite Members, Elite Rewards: In addition to enjoying the perks and benefits of BWR, our elite members also receive elite rewards. Upon arrival, elite members are given a choice of a “Thank You” gift or bonus points. Additionally, they receive a 10 percent discount for all free night redemptions and 10-50 percent bonus points for all their stays. Finally, Best Western hotels provide guaranteed free nights for Diamond and Diamond select members at properties with availability.
