Philippine 7-Eleven Stores Introduce Smartphone Scanning Technology into Loyalty Program

7-eleven store front7-Eleven is going high-tech by adding new improvements to its loyalty program in stores all across the Philippines. In an effort to vastly enhance its ability to provide mobile and digital customer engagement, the Philippine Seven Corporation, the region’s 7-Eleven managing affiliate, has chosen Datalogic to implement a host of new technologically advanced rewards points, redemption offers, and promotional discounts in over 1,300 stores.

The new innovations will come via the QuickScan™ Lite QW2100, which is a small scanner that will allow customers to participate in a variety of loyalty program promotions directly at the register. Developed by Datalogic, a technology company that specializes in data collection and automated mobile marketing equipment, QuickScan will also allow customers to simply and quickly scan their smartphones for immediate deals during checkout.

Members need only to download the 7-Eleven “Every Day! Rewards” app to immediately enjoy special promotions and discounts from the convenience of their smartphones.

Realizing the immediate need to join the growing mobile movement, the Philippine Seven Corporation is excited to integrate with Datalogic’s platform to offer a more relevant customer experience. By freeing customers of the need to rely on a physical card, Datalogic also views the new partnership as an important step forwarded for both organizations.7-Eleven goes mobile

“Today most shoppers have a mobile device that is a fixture wherever they go,” said Giulio Berzuini, Vice President of EMEA Sales and General Manager of the Hand Held Scanning Business Unit for Datalogic. “It is the ideal platform for communicating and sustaining customer loyalty. Unlike retailers that use traditional cards, 7-Eleven has chosen to listen to their customers and give them a loyalty platform that works with their lifestyle. We are happy that the QuickScan is part of their solution.”

Already a dominant force in the region, 7-Eleven currently captures a 60% share of the market. It sees this new move as a way to further solidify its presence as the leading convenience store chain of the Philippines. So far, the project has already been very successful in 500 stores.

Later this year, the brand will continue with plans to make the QuickScan QW2100 imager a standard addition to the remaining 7-Elvens across the region.
