7-Eleven, Inc. is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Operation Chill®, its long-standing community outreach initiative designed to foster positive interactions between law enforcement and young people.
Launched in 1995, police officers hand out coupons for a free small Slurpee® drink to kids they observe doing good deeds or exhibiting positive behavior. Available at participating 7-Eleven®, Speedway®, and Stripes® locations, these Slurpee coupons serve as a simple yet powerful way to build trust and engagement between youth and law enforcement.
7-Eleven, Inc. EVP and Chief Marketing & Sustainability Officer Marissa Jarratt said, “Operation Chill is more than just a free Slurpee drink coupon – it reinforces the power of small gestures to build big relationships. Over the past 30 years, we’ve seen how this program has helped to break down barriers, encourage positive behavior and bring communities together.”
Now involving over 1,300 law enforcement agencies nationwide and having distributed more than 24 million coupons to date, Operation Chill® continues to grow in scale and impact. In 2025 alone, nearly 640,000 coupons will be handed out for simple acts of kindness or responsibility, such as helping a neighbor, picking up trash, or practicing bike safety.

A free Slurpee drink coupon may seem small, but it opens the door to meaningful conversations and trust-building moments between officers and kids.
