DoorDash Introduces AI-Powered Pizza Customization

DoorDash has launched a new AI-powered pizza customization experience designed to simplify the ordering process ahead of Pi Day, one of the busiest pizza-ordering days of the year. Pizza remains one of the most popular categories on the platform, with more than 150 million pizza orders placed through DoorDash in 2025. However, with a wide variety of choices from sizes, thickness, sauces, and toppings, customizing pizzas online can be challenging for customers.

DoorDash’s new experience uses AI to interpret restaurant menu data and transform it into a guided, visual ordering flow. Instead of scrolling through long lists of modifiers, customers are guided step-by-step through the ordering process to customize their own pizza. The interface also allows features like half-and-half topping combinations, visual browsing of ingredients, and persistent customization so selections remain in place even when users change size or crust.

DoorDash says the goal is to reduce friction in the ordering process while helping merchants better showcase their menu offerings. Because AI automatically restructures existing menu data, restaurants can adopt the experience without making operational changes. The feature is currently rolling out to select merchants, with pizza serving as the first cuisine category before the technology expands to other types of menus.

Starbucks Expands Supply Chain Operations With New Nashville Hub

Starbucks has announced plans to open a new corporate operations office in the Nashville area later this year. The new office will focus on sourcing and logistics functions that help keep stores stocked and operating efficiently. While Starbucks’ global headquarters will remain in Seattle, the Nashville hub will work closely with leadership there to strengthen the company’s operational capabilities.

The decision reflects Starbucks’ broader strategy to scale its business and improve supply chain performance as it continues to grow across the U.S. The Nashville location will help support coffeehouse expansion and rising customer demand, particularly in the Southeast region. By placing a corporate presence closer to key markets and distribution networks, Starbucks aims to improve coordination across sourcing, logistics, and store operations.

Nashville was selected in part for its strong and expanding workforce, as well as its strategic position within the Southeast. Starbucks plans to relocate some supply chain employees from Seattle to the new office while also creating new roles in the region. The investment is part of the company’s long-term growth strategy, which includes expanding its U.S. store base and strengthening the infrastructure needed to support that growth.
