Jersey Mike’s Subs recently announced a major step in its global growth strategy with a franchise agreement to open 400 locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The deal is with JM Submarines UK LTD, led by company founder and Chairman Peter Cancro, and marks Jersey Mike’s first expansion into Europe. The first European restaurant is expected to open in 2026.
Cancro, Founder and Chairman of the Board at Jersey Mike’s and CEO of JM Submarines UK LTD., said, “I’ve lived and breathed this brand my entire life, starting when I worked at the original Mike’s Subs in Point Pleasant as a teenager. To now have the opportunity to bring Jersey Mike’s to the UK and Ireland as a franchisee is incredibly exciting. I see tremendous potential in these markets, and I’m eager to personally operate the brand I love in regions that value quality and community as much as we do.”

Under Cancro’s leadership as CEO for nearly five decades, the brand grew from a single shop on the Jersey Shore to more than 3,200 locations across North America, earning a loyal following for its fresh-sliced and fresh-grilled subs.
International President of Jersey Mike’s, Andy Skehan, added that the expansion represents just the beginning of Jersey Mike’s global ambitions. As the company accelerates international growth, it hopes to build worldwide brand recognition while preserving the culture, craftsmanship, and community ties that have been synonymous with the Jersey Mike’s brand since 1956.
