Dunkin’ Donuts, Amtrak Partner to Extend Respective Customer Experiences

Two widely recognized brands−Dunkin’ Donuts and Amtrak−have teamed up to spread their respective stellar customer experiences to consumers in the Northeast Corridor.

Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend and Dunkin’ Decaf hot coffee varieties are now available on board Amtrak Acela Express high-speed trains throughout the Northeast Corridor.

According to the agreement, Dunkin’ Donuts’ signature hot coffee is now available to the 3.4 million customers who ride Acela Express trains each year. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee will be served all day in First Class and Café Acela, and will be brewed using the same equipment featured in Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants to ensure the same high quality and great taste enjoyed by millions of Dunkin’ guests every day.

“Amtrak continues to place a strong focus on improving customer satisfaction and has concluded that customers are seeking premium food and beverage options on board,” Thomas Hall, vice president, passenger experience, Amtrak, explained to Loyalty360. “We take pride in enriching the customer experience with premium services and brands and offering Dunkin’ Donuts hot coffee aboard all of our Acela Express trains is the latest example of this ongoing commitment.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has an established presence at locations geared toward serving travelers, with restaurants at airports and train stations throughout the country.

Acela Express is the premium service on the nation’s busiest passenger rail corridor, offering hourly service between New York City, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and other intermediate cities, as well as many convenient round-trips between New York City and Boston. Acela Express customers enjoy more legroom, spacious seats, and Wi-Fi speeds up to six times faster, for more reliable connectivity at no extra charge. Amtrak’s Acela Express has led a significant growth in revenue and market share in the Northeast, increasing from 2.4 million customers in fiscal year 2002 to 3.4 million customers in fiscal year 2016.

Later this year, Dunkin’ Donuts hot coffees are scheduled to be served aboard Amtrak’s Northeast Regional trains that operate throughout the Northeast Corridor.

“Both Amtrak and Dunkin’ Donuts share a long heritage of serving on-the-go Americans. Dunkin’ Donuts aims to help keep Acela Express passengers energized with Dunkin’ Donuts hot coffee whenever and wherever they are traveling,” Chris Fuqua, senior vice president, Dunkin’ Donuts brand marketing, global consumer insights & product innovation, told Loyalty360. “Now that Dunkin' Donuts hot coffee is available on Acela Express trains, it will be available to the 3.4 million customers who ride each year. As the brand that keeps America running, we are excited that Acela Express now runs on Dunkin’.”
