Apple Expands Buy Now, Pay Later 

Apple Inc. expanded its internal test of a “buy now, pay later” function for Apple Pay. All retail employees will now have access to Apple Pay Later, building on the initial test with corporate employees. 

The service allows shoppers to spit purchases payments into installments, building on Apple’s efforts to break into the financial market. The service comes after initial technical setbacks but should roll out publicly soon. 

 

Wegmans Tests Smart Cart Device 

Wegmans Food Markets will pilot a clip-on device to turn its shopping carts into multifunction smart carts. Partnering with Shop-E, the grocer will launch the test in two of its stores. 

The device will use AI to identify items placed into carts in real-time. It then allows shoppers to self-serve checkout in-app and avoid standing in line. 

 

Bennet Announces NFT-Based Customer Loyalty 

Bennet launched the Bennet NFT Club, the Italian hypermarket’s first customer loyalty program. To create the program, Bennet partnered with blockchain marketing company Smiling. 

The loyalty program comes with three “NFT by Bennet” collections totaling 2,700 digital assets. Access to the collections comes at different tiers with different cost brackets.
