As a viewer of Trailer Park Boys, I was confused when I first saw footage of Canadians picking up orders from in front of a grocery store. The pick-up service looked convenient, and nothing like what was available in my area. That’s starting to change in the US market, and Food Lion has become one of the grocers that offers consumers a pick-up option.
The grocery retailer has launched its “Food Lion To-Go” grocery pick up service at multiple area locations. This new service enables Food Lion to continue to deliver on its promise to ensure an “easy, fresh, and affordable grocery shopping experience.” It enables customers to order and pick up their groceries in as little as an hour.
“We are so excited to bring this convenient service to more stores in the Food Lion footprint and enable customers to spend more time on what matters most to them,” says Deborah Sabo, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Food Lion. “With the Food Lion To-Go service, our associates become personal shoppers and are able to hand pick the freshest produce and best cuts of meat, just as they would for their own family. We look forward to continuing to nourish our neighbors with this new convenient service.”
Food Lion wants to give local residents the option to shop through the channel they prefer, whether in-store or online. The company expanded this new service to the community earlier this week, in keeping with Food Lion’s stated commitment to making grocery shopping easy and personable. The online service lets customers fill a virtual cart with the grocery items they need and schedule a pick-up time that works for their schedule.
How Food Lion To-Go Works
Customers can visit shop.foodlion.com and select the closest participating store based on their zip code. Next, they may add items to a virtual cart. Once they are done filling their cart, customers can check out and pick a day and hour window they want to pick the groceries up in and proceed to check out. A Food Lion associate will then accept the order and prepare it at the store for the customer’s designated pick up timeframe. Upon arrival, To-Go shoppers may park in the designated parking area, where a dedicated Food Lion associate will deliver their order directly to their car. Food Lion To-Go is available seven days per week from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
