Mocapay platform to provide students mobile-enabled loyalty and gift programs for the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at Daniels

DENVER, April 6, 2010 - The University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business today announced that its School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) entered into a strategic partnership with Mocapay, a mobile experience platform.  The platform, using Mocapay’s mobile Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technology allows students to use their mobile phones in making purchases at Beans, the school’s student run coffee shop.

HRTM will also leverage the platform’s embedded messaging engine enabling it to distribute customized mobile marketing campaigns to students. Since mobile technology is quickly becoming an essential part of the hospitality industry’s business processes, the School also plans to integrate the Mocapay platform into its curriculum.

“Our mission at the University of Denver has and continues to be about providing students with the best education possible, including integrating innovative technology into the curriculum and the campus setting,” said David L. Corsun Ph.D, director and associate professor of HRTM.  “Mocapay not only offers students a solution for conducting secure, mobile transactions on campus but gives our hotel, restaurant and tourism management students’ cutting-edge experience in deployment of mobile technology within the hospitality industry.”

Through the relationship, students and faculty will be able to conduct mobile transactions at the point-of-sale, access their account balance and transaction history and reload their account, all from their mobile phone.  Users will also be able to conduct mobile gifting, which allows real-time gift giving directly to another mobile phone.

“We are very excited about the relationship with The University of Denver’s School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. This relationship marks our entry into the university setting and illustrates the versatility and ease of implementation of the Mocapay platform into the POS environment,” said Kevin Grieve, CEO, Mocapay.
