Thrifty Foods is launching a rewards program that will enable registered customers to collect and redeem points based on the food and grocery items they buy.

Club Thrifty Foods begins Wednesday (Sept. 23) at all Vancouver Island Thrifty Foods stores, as well as all Sobeys stores in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

Sobeys Inc. purchased Thrifty Foods in 2007.

Joining the program is free and members will receive one Club Thrifty Foods point for every dollar spent. Once sufficient points have been acquired, they can be redeemed for dollars-off purchases in-store or for items featured in a rewards catalogue.

Alternatively, Club Thrifty Foods points can be automatically converted to Aeroplan Miles at a rate of one Aeroplan mile for every two Club Thrifty Foods points.
