Target Deal Days to Drive Brand Engagement

Target has unveiled a new promotion, Target Deal Days, which will consist of two days of online sales with no membership required. On Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, consumers will be offered thousands of deals across Target.com and on the Target app, with new deals each day.

These are the same days that Amazon will have Prime Day, so this is a direct attempt to compete with the e-commerce giant. The key differentiator here is that Prime Day requires a membership, while Target Deal Days is available to anyone.

The pick-up and delivery options for Target Deal Days, however, will introduce shoppers to the brand’s loyalty ecosystems. Consumers can get their orders the same day without the wait, using Target’s services, such as drive up, order pickup, and same-day delivery shopped by Shipt.

“Last year’s Target.com One-Day Sale was one of our biggest days of the year for online sales,” says Mark Tritton, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Target. “This year, we’re giving guests more discounts across even more of our assortment with two days to save on hundreds of thousands of items and offering the best options in retail for delivery and pick up on their terms, including same-day.”

Product categories for Target Deal Days are home, apparel, toys, and others. Products offered will include national brands and Target-exclusive brands. Customers can shop the sale in several ways:

  • Order from Target.com and have those items shopped and delivered by Shipt within hours.
  • Select order pickup, and the online order will be ready and waiting within an hour at the local Target store.
  • Place a drive up order from the Target app and a Target team member will bring the items out to the parking lot within minutes of arrival at the store.
  • Free two-day shipping will be available for most items on Target.com when using a Target REDcard or for orders of $35 or more. REDcard users will receive an additional 5 percent discount.

Target is promoting this campaign heavily, and in an effort to build and sustain hype, the company will be announcing additional details and specific details in the days leading up to the sale.
