Panera Refreshes MyPanera Loyalty Program with More Choice and Value
Panera Bread is giving its loyalty program a major refresh, launching a new points-based MyPanera® experience designed to offer its more than 70 million members greater choice, value and transparency. Members now earn 10 points for every $1 spent and can redeem those points for the menu items they choose, ranging from a free bagel or mini bakery treat at 250 points to a whole entrée at 2,000 points. The revamped program also introduces three membership tiers—MyPanera, MyPanera+™ and MyPanera+ Sip Club—with additional perks for frequent guests and subscribers. To celebrate the launch, Panera is partnering with Keke Palmer on its new “Refreshingly Loyal” campaign and offering members 500 bonus points after their first qualifying purchase in the new program through September 1, alongside exclusive app access to the new Tropical Mango Pineapple Energy Refresher.

McDonald’s Expands Loyalty Value Beyond the Menu with Shell Partnership
McDonald’s is extending the reach of its loyalty program beyond burgers and fries through a limited-time partnership with Shell that lets eligible MyMcDonald’s Rewards members exchange 1,500 points for 50 cents off per gallon at participating Shell stations, as The Street reports. The promotion, available through September 12 to customers who enroll as new Shell Fuel Rewards members through the Shell app, reflects a broader strategy by McDonald’s to strengthen its value proposition without relying solely on lower menu prices. It also demonstrates how the company is using its massive loyalty ecosystem—now approaching 220 million active users—to encourage engagement through benefits outside its restaurants. For Shell, the collaboration provides an opportunity to introduce McDonald’s customers to its own rewards program and potentially turn a one-time fuel discount into repeat visits, according to The Street.

Chipotle’s Culture-Driven BOGO Strategy Is Delivering Record Sales
Chipotle is finding success with a promotional strategy that pairs compelling value with cultural moments, as its recent School Spirit BOGO generated the highest gross sales day in the company’s history and its strongest BOGO redemption rate to date, as NRN reports. The back-to-school offer, which rewarded customers wearing school-themed apparel or accessories with a free entrée after purchasing one, surpassed the performance of Chipotle’s previous record-setting soccer promotion by 25%. The results add to a string of successful limited-time BOGOs tied to occasions ranging from sports to tattoos, and Chipotle is keeping the momentum going with a U.S. Open promotion connected to tennis player Taylor Fritz. Rather than relying on a permanent value menu, the fast-casual chain is using timely, event-driven offers to create urgency, connect with consumers around shared interests, and give price-conscious guests additional reasons to visit, according to NRN.
