Jersey Mike’s Donates 20 Percent Of Sales To Feeding America
Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, is teaming up once again with Jersey Mike’s Subs on a special fundraising event this weekend. On Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22, Jersey Mike’s will donate 20 percent of sales to Feeding America.

While a minimum of $1 million will be donated, Jersey Mike’s expects the total to be higher.  Last April, Jersey Mike’s raised more than $2 million for Feeding America, helping to provide 20 million meals* through the organization’s nationwide network of 200 food banks.

“We thank everyone for their generosity through our April fundraiser for Feeding America, which supported families during the height of COVID-19,” says Peter Cancro, Founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, Inc. “While some of the country has rebounded, there are still families that are having a difficult time, and we are asking you to join us again at Jersey Mike’s this weekend to make a difference in someone’s life.”

Universal Strikes Deal With Cinemark Allowing Movies to Premiere On-Demand Early
Cinemark Theatres and Universal Pictures have forged a landmark agreement to bring theatrical movies more quickly to home entertainment.

The deal follows an unexpected arrangement that Universal struck months ago with AMC Theatres, the world’s largest movie theater chain. That pact gave Universal the option to put new movies on digital rental services after 17 days of theatrical release — a decision that sent shockwaves throughout Hollywood because it dramatically shortened the timeframe (typically 75 to 90 days) that films play exclusively on the big screen. In exchange, Universal would share in the digital profits with AMC.
Athene USA donates winter coats, boots to nearly 1,500 D.M. students
Athene USA, a leading provider of retirement savings products based in West Des Moines, has donated winter clothing essentials to nearly 1,500 children at Cattell, McKinley, Howe and Studebaker elementary schools through its annual Coats & Boots program.

Now in its 27th year, Coats & Boots originally started as a relief effort to provide support to victims of the 1993 floods. The program has evolved into a legacy program that has supplied coats and boots to an estimated 15,200 students in Central Iowa. More than 100 Athene employee volunteers helped to make this year's program a success.

In addition to the winter clothing donated to the four Des Moines schools, Athene will also donate roughly 200 coats and boots to West Des Moines Human Services Clothing Closet, where they will be available at no cost to families in need. The coats and boots are provided by the Athene USA Charitable Foundation with the support of J.C. Penney and Shoe Carnival.
