Rutter’s Launches New Rewards App
Rutter’s, a Pennsylvania based convenience store has launched its brand-new custom mobile app, designed to give customers more personalization, such as connecting to their Facebook profile picture, unique VIP offers and the ability to go completely card-less. Over ten years ago, Rutter’s was the first convenience store chain to launch a mobile app when they partnered with GasBuddy to develop the OpenStore platform. “Being first in the convenience store industry to have a mobile app is something our company is very proud to tout,” said Chris Hartman, Rutter’s Director of Fuels, Forecourt, and Advertising. “Now, as we move to Rutter’s 2.0 app, we’re thrilled to have an engaged partner in Paytronix. The new capabilities will not only improve the current Rutter’s Rewards experience but will continue to do so as technology innovation becomes available in the future.”
 
Companies Want to Bring on CXOs, But It’s Not Easy
A growing group of companies are hoping that having a dedicated chief experience officer, also known as a CXO, can help improve their results by helping the business make the most of every interaction between customers and employees. The role often sweeps together several previously separate functions, theoretically promoting teamwork but also risking resentment over lost independence.
Under Amour, United Way, Wheels Up Partners have all named their first CXOs this year, and TGI Fridays, Citizens Financial Group, and Tile all have CXOs in place as well.
 
Insomnia Cookies Announces Red Cross Donation Week
Insomnia Cookies is proud to announce Red Cross Donation Week, which will run from start of business on Monday, March 23 until bakeries close at Sunday, March 29.  During this promotion, $1 from in-store and online orders of every Sugar Rush traditional 12 pack sold will be donated to the American Red Cross. “A promotion that benefits the Red Cross is always very meaningful, but it’s even more so right now with all that’s going on,” said Tom Carusona, Insomnia Cookies Chief Marketing Officer. “We know that our friends at the Red Cross are in great need of donations across the board right now so we hope that all of our Insomniacs will not only support this promotion, but also donate blood if they’re healthy and able to do so.”
 
Southwest Scraps Inflight Refreshments Due to Virus Concerns
Earlier this week, Southwest announced that it would end all inflight service, including beverage and snack services, due to the Coronavirus outbreak. As a result, Southwest will be able to limit the number of interactions between flight attendants and passengers, reducing opportunities for transmission.
Several other airlines have announced temporary changes. Delta and American Airlines have suspended food and beverage service on most flights, and Air Canada has suspended bar service and is only offering pre-packed meals or snacks on trips longer than two hours in business class.
