Lowe’s and HomeAdvisor Launch Partnership, Benefits for Loyalty Program Members
 
Lowe’s and HomeAdvisor have announced a partnership to help Pros get leads by offering Lowe’s for Pros Loyalty Program members a free, year-long HomeAdvisor subscription. Those qualifying members will receive the subscription as well as an average of 10 free leads, which will connect them to HomeAdvisor’s network of homeowners looking for Pros to complete home projects.
 
“A consistent flow of quality leads remain very important for our Pro customers, and we are here to make their lives a little easier,” said Fred Stokes, Lowe’s senior vice president of Pro Sales and Services, in a Lowe’s press release. “As a member of Lowe’s Pro loyalty program, we are providing personalized offers, business management tools, and now a free one-year subscription to HomeAdvisor. It’s another way to show how committed we are to helping keep Pros working during the pandemic and beyond.”

DICK’S Sporting Goods to Close on Thanksgiving; Extends Teammate Premium Pay Through End of Year
 
Dick’s Sporting Goods has announced that it will close all its stores and distribution stores on Thanksgiving Day this year, November 26, 2020. This closure includes specialty stores Golf Galaxy and Field & Stream.
 
“We are so thankful to our teammates for their hard work and dedication,” said Ed Stack, Chairman and CEO, in a Dick’s Sporting Goods news release. “They have navigated this year with strength, commitment, and care for each other and for our customers. We will continue to do all we can to support them and show our gratitude.”
 
Target, Walmart, CVS Partner to Reimagine the Retail Plastic Bag
 
Closed Loop Partners has announced a movement called the Beyond the Bag Initiative, and Target is the latest store to join the program, alongside others like Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, and CVS. This program looks to test and implement other options to the traditional plastic retail bag. The brands have altogether invested more than $15 to start the initiative.
 
“The status quo has been shaken, presenting a unique opportunity to build back better and reimagine a more resilient and sustainable way of doing business,” said Kate Daly, managing director of the Center for the Circular Economy at Closed Loop Partners, in a statement in the above Star Tribune article.

Check Your Couch Cushions: One Chick-Fil-A Offers Free Food Voucher if you Exchange Coins
 
According to USA Today, there is a Chick-fil-A in Virginia offering a free entrée voucher to customers that exchange $10 of rolled coins for $10 in bills. This special is happening from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, the brand said on Facebook.
 
“Due to the decrease in coin circulation nationwide, some restaurants may choose to offer incentives like this one to ensure they maintain enough coins to provide guests proper change, should they choose to pay with cash,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement to USA TODAY in the above article. 
 
McDonald’s Profit Plunges 68% 
 
McDonald’s has announced that it saw a 68 percent drop in net income during its second quarter that ended June 30. This quarterly report is the first one to show the impact of the pandemic fully.
 
“We saw continued improvement in our results throughout the second quarter as markets reopened around the world,” CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a statement released Tuesday before the company’s conference call, quoted in the above Nation’s Restaurant News article. “I’m especially proud of the way the McDonald’s system continues to provide a safe environment for both customers and crew, building on our 65-year legacy as a responsible and reliable choice for safe food. We’re confident that the strong foundation we’ve built, combined with the unique advantages of our system, position us well to continue operating successfully during this pandemic and emerge even stronger.”
