Expedia® 2020 Summer Travel Report Reveals Same-State Stays, Road Trips and Flexibility Pave the Way to Recovery
 
Expedia has revealed its 2020 Summer Travel Report, which has shown many results, including:

  • 85 percent of U.S. travelers are likely to take a road trip this year
  • Interest in domestic summer stays is up 10 percent year-on-year
  • Demand for staycations is on the rise
  • 97 percent of stays booked in June were refundable rates
 
"People miss travel, they have vacation days to use and they also want to stay safe," says Senior Director of PR and Social for Expedia.com, Nisreene Atassi in an Expedia press release. "Given how quickly the advice and restrictions are changing, one of our main priorities at Expedia is making sure our customers have the information they need to navigate this summer travel season."
 
Uber Says It Will Become Profitable Next Year, Boosted By $2.65 Billion Postmates Acquisition
 
Uber has officially announced it is purchasing Postmates for $2.65 billion, which Uber says will allow it to become profitable by 2021.
 
"We're very confident we're going to get to profitability next year and we have enough of a diversified portfolio to make that statement with quite a bit of confidence," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told CNBC on Tuesday in the above Forbes article.
 
The brand's stock has risen 7 percent since the announcement, according to the Forbes article, and will improve its Uber Eats platform.
 
"We're in the unique position of having the Eats business to significantly offset headwinds in our rides business," Khosrowshahi said in the article.

American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa have announced the global expansion of the Click to Pay online checkout program in more locations like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, with more to follow.

DHL Opens First-of-Its-Kind Mobile Pop-Up Store
 
DHL Express has announced it is opening its first mobile pop-up store in Silver Spring, Maryland. This new DHL Service Point will provide an easy and quick shipping option for customers.
 
"With the rise in popularity of mobile pop-ups for food, fashion, and more, we saw an excellent opportunity to offer our customers a similar type of convenient experience," said DHL Express U.S. CEO Greg Hewitt in the DHL press release. "That growing need for convenience combined with the local demand for our international shipping services led us to develop this mobile, flexible shipping solution. The new DHL Service Point is part of our overall retail strategy to be closer and more accessible to consumers, using an innovative mobile model to complement our retail shipping network." 
 
Keurig Dr. Pepper Advances Sustainable Packaging Commitments with New $10 Million Investment to Improve Polypropylene Recycling in the U.S.
 
Keurig Dr Pepper has announced its founding sponsorship of The Recycling Partnership's Polypropylene Recycling Coalition. It has committed $10 million over the next five years, alongside investments from industry peers.
