BMO Officially Closes Air Miles Acquisition

BMO Financial Group announced it has officially closed its acquisition of the Air Miles, one of the oldest and largest loyalty programs in Canada. The acquisition began following the bankruptcy filing of Air Miles’ former U.S. parent company.

The acquisition will bring stability to the program alongside the opportunity to invest in program enhancements. BMO plans to expand the program with new ways to earn and redeem points, including an improved travel booking platform and receipt scanning tool.

Instacart’s Nationwide Rollout of ChatGPT Tool

Following a successful pilot, Instacart will roll out its ChatGPT tool across the U.S. The Ask Instacart tool allows customers to find products, recipes, food prep tips, and more without the use of keyword-based searches.

Ask Instacart improves its customer experience through providing suggestions throughout the entire shopping journey, using the user’s natural language. The tool is part of Instacart’s growing suite of AI-native initiatives, as the brand engages more with emerging technologies.

Walmart Invests in Sustainable Packaging

Walmart will replace plastic packaging on online orders with recyclable paper. The change is part of the brand’s overall CSR efforts to increase sustainability.

Additionally, the nation’s largest retailer will add made-to-fit technology to its fulfillment centers, which will allow each shipped box to use less material allowing more boxes to fit on each truckload. Customers will also be able to skip plastic bags when ordering for curbside pickup at any Walmart location.
