Increasingly, the constant sum question format is becoming one of my go to question styles. It allows the respondent to divide their “sum” across a fixed number of categories creating metric data. To clarify the “sum” portion of constant sum does not have to be 100 (as in 100 percent). It could be other metrics such as a 40 hour work week, a $1000 budget and so on.
